How to change ChatGPT response tone, style, and language
When you want ChatGPT to answer in a specific voice, format, or language, Superpower can place tone, writing style, and language selectors at the top of ChatGPT.
Here is a friendly, concise version with a clearer structure and a helpful next step.
Open Superpower settings, go to Conversation, enable Show Tone Selector, Show Writing Style Selector, and Show Language Selector, then use the dropdowns in the top-right area of ChatGPT before sending a prompt.
Open Conversation settings
Open the Superpower manager, click the gear icon, and choose Settings. Go to the Conversation section, where Superpower keeps response behavior and visible conversation controls.
Enable the selector dropdowns
Turn on Show Tone Selector, Show Writing Style Selector, and Show Language Selector. Each toggle controls whether that dropdown appears in the top navigation area of ChatGPT.
Use the Tone dropdown
Open Tone when you want ChatGPT to sound more formal, friendly, concise, confident, clinical, empathetic, or another available tone. Use Default when you do not want to steer tone.
Use Writing Style and Language
Use Writing Style to change how the answer is written, then use Language when you want the response in a specific language. These controls are separate, so you can combine them for the current prompt.
Hide the controls when you do not need them
If the dropdowns take up too much space, return to Conversation settings and turn off any selector you do not use. You can enable them again later.
Response control strategy
Use lightweight controls for quick response changes.
FAQ
Questions about tone, style, and language selectors.
Short answers about enabling selector dropdowns, where they appear, and when to use them.
Where do I enable ChatGPT tone and style dropdowns?
Open Superpower settings, go to Conversation, and enable Show Tone Selector, Show Writing Style Selector, or Show Language Selector.
Where do the selectors appear?
When enabled, the tone, style, and language dropdowns appear near the top-right area of the ChatGPT page.
Can I show only one selector?
Yes. Each selector has its own setting, so you can show only Tone, only Language, only Writing Style, or any combination.
Do these dropdowns change every ChatGPT answer forever?
They control the active response behavior while selected. Use Default when you do not want the selector to steer the answer.
How is this different from custom instruction profiles?
Tone, style, and language selectors are quick controls for the current workflow. Custom instruction profiles are better for reusable roles, rules, and deeper instruction sets.
