Use Writing Style and Language

Use Writing Style to change how the answer is written, then use Language when you want the response in a specific language. These controls are separate, so you can combine them for the current prompt.

Hide the controls when you do not need them

If the dropdowns take up too much space, return to Conversation settings and turn off any selector you do not use. You can enable them again later.

Response control strategy

Use lightweight controls for quick response changes.

Use Default when you want ChatGPT to behave normally.
Pick tone before writing the prompt when the voice matters, such as friendly support replies, formal emails, or concise summaries.
Use Writing Style for format and structure, and Tone for how the answer should feel.
Turn off selectors you rarely use so the top bar stays clean.
Use custom instruction profiles when you need a deeper reusable voice or role than a quick dropdown can provide.

FAQ

Questions about tone, style, and language selectors.

Short answers about enabling selector dropdowns, where they appear, and when to use them.

Where do I enable ChatGPT tone and style dropdowns?

Open Superpower settings, go to Conversation, and enable Show Tone Selector, Show Writing Style Selector, or Show Language Selector.

Where do the selectors appear?

When enabled, the tone, style, and language dropdowns appear near the top-right area of the ChatGPT page.

Can I show only one selector?

Yes. Each selector has its own setting, so you can show only Tone, only Language, only Writing Style, or any combination.

Do these dropdowns change every ChatGPT answer forever?

They control the active response behavior while selected. Use Default when you do not want the selector to steer the answer.

How is this different from custom instruction profiles?

Tone, style, and language selectors are quick controls for the current workflow. Custom instruction profiles are better for reusable roles, rules, and deeper instruction sets.

Steer ChatGPT responses without rewriting every prompt.

Install Superpower, enable the response selectors, and choose the tone, style, or language you need before sending the prompt.
