Reference tutorial
How to reference ChatGPT conversations in other ChatGPT conversations
When useful context is trapped in an older ChatGPT conversation, starting a new thread can mean copying long messages, summaries, and images by hand.
With Superpower ChatGPT, open the conversation menu for a past chat, choose Reference chat, and attach a copy of that conversation to the current conversation. Referenced chats can include images, and you can attach multiple past conversations when a new thread needs more than one source.
Open the conversation you want to reuse
Find the older ChatGPT conversation that contains the research, plan, image, decision, or answer you want to bring into the current thread.
Open the conversation menu
Use the conversation menu for that past chat. This is where Superpower adds workflow actions for turning old conversations into reusable context.
Click Reference chat
Choose Reference chat to attach a copy of that conversation to the conversation you are currently working in. The reference can include the conversation text and available images.
Attach more past conversations if needed
Repeat the same action when the current thread needs context from more than one source. You can reference multiple past conversations in the same new conversation.
Ask ChatGPT to use the references
Once the referenced chats are attached, ask ChatGPT to compare, summarize, continue, rewrite, or build on that prior context without manually pasting everything into the prompt.
Reference strategy
Bring in the context, not the whole sidebar.
